AGMA Membership Categories 

AGMA membership is structured into different categories based on the type of company or individual.  Current categories include:

1.  Company Membership

2.  Associate Membership

3.  Individual Technical Consultant Membership

4.  Academic Membership 

For most of the membership types within the Company Membership and Associate Membership categories, dues are calculated based on sales volume, with a minimum and maximum dues amount.  Individual Technical Consultant and Academic Memberships have a set annual dues amount.

AGMA membership is for a calendar year.  You are welcome to join AGMA at any time during the calendar year; however, an application for membership must be submitted with payment of one year’s dues.  If applicable, dues for the second year will be prorated.  All dues, after the first year, are payable by January 31.  

To determine which membership category is appropriate for you or your company, as well as how to calculate your annual dues, please read the information below.

Company Membership
The only companies eligible for membership in this category are North American Gear Manufacturers, which are companies that manufacture gears, gear products, and/or flexible couplings for sale as such, or as component parts of end-use products.  Companies must have a bona fide gear or flexible couplings manufacturing facility located in the United States, Canada or Mexico.

Associate Membership
This membership category includes International Gear Manufacturer, Supplier to the Industry, and End User.

International Gear Manufacturer
This membership category is for companies that manufacture gears, gear products, and/or flexible couplings in a manufacturing facility located outside of the United States, Canada or Mexico.

Supplier to the Industry
Companies in this membership category are companies that manufacture and/or sell machinery, raw materials, or services, including inspection, testing, consulting, and sales representation.

Companies included in this membership category are companies that use gears, gear products, and/or flexible couplings as component parts of end-use products.

Individual Technical Consultant Membership
This membership category is restricted to consultants to the gear industry.  The individual must be engaged in full time consulting as a sole proprietor of his/her company.  Individuals who are employed either full-time or part-time by a company or corporation are not eligible for Individual Technical Consultant Membership.
Annual dues:  $750.00

Academic Membership
AGMA has special Academic Membership for educational institutions.  Teachers of Engineering or Department Heads may apply for membership in this category.  Applicants should submit a letter from the applicant’s superior, on university letterhead, stating that the applicant is involved in mechanical power transmission education and, in his opinion, the applicant is eligible for membership in the American Gear Manufacturers Association.  Students are not eligible for membership in AGMA.
Annual Dues:  $50
