Approximately 200 gearing professionals participated in AGMA’s 2009 Annual Meeting.

“When times are good, you come for the fun; in times like these, you come for the support of your peers and to find out what’s going on,” said J. Cameron Drecoll, president and CEO, Broadwind Energy, Inc.

Here are a few highlights from the sessions:

  • Simon Bailey, The Brilliance Institute

By participating in the golf tournament Friday afternoon and the “Tropical Evening” Auction later that day, supporters raised $23,320 for the AGMA Foundation help advance gear science, standards and education.

Ann Green of Rotometrics, a new member and first time attendee, commented, “The pool-side cocktail social was a terrific opportunity for new members to ‘break the ice.’ The Silent Auction and dinner were terrific events, and I really enjoyed the presentations and speakers.”

The annual golf tournament took place on Friday afternoon on the ChampionsGate National Course. Attendees also could join Open Play on Saturday at the International Course, an authentic links style course, reminiscent of those in the British Isles. Tennis consisted of Open Play on Friday.

For the auction, those who donated items with the highest retail value were Forest City Gear Company, The Gear Works?Seattle, Scot Forge Company and Great Lakes Gear Technologies. The highest bidders were Rick Fullington, Joe Griffin, Rich Piselli and Greg Porter.

Spouses and guests networked at the Hospitality Suite, which was open Thursday, Friday, and Saturday. Children could attend Camp Omni.
