AGMA System Efficiency Initiative Meeting

November 18, 2009 | 10:00 am - 3:00 pm

Sheraton Gateway Suites O’Hare, Rosemont, Ill.

This event is for AGMA members only.

Is your plant incurring a “hidden” cost of wasted energy? Could it run more efficiently?

According to the most recent review from the U.S. Department of Energy, U.S. industry uses one-third of all energy.

To address this, DOE has developed a “plant certification program” and is helping to develop a management system standard, ISO 50001, to address energy efficiency. ISO 50001 will follow the path of other management system standards, ISO 9000 and ISO 14000.

How Does This Affect You?

A small steering committee headed by AGMA Chairman David Ballard (SEW-Eurodrive) has been investigating the implications and opportunities for members.

To involve members in this program, AGMA is holding a meeting to look at the U.S. Department of Energy’s plans and possible actions by the Association.

Draft Agenda

  • Welcome and introductions
  • Overview of the meeting and objectives for the day
  • Presentation of U. S. Department of Energy Plant Certification program
  • Presentation on ISO 50001 Energy Management System Standard
  • Discussion of the gear industry response to proposed DOE actions.
