AGMA Members Re-Energized at the Annual Meeting
“Superior” was the word used by AGMA President Joe Franklin about the 2010 AGMA/ABMA Annual Meeting. “The Planning Committee wanted this meeting to bring a new energy for our members and provide specific tools they will need for the long recovery phase after the recession. From all I have heard, the meeting delivered with an outstanding program.”
Five guest speakers informed, enlightened, and invigorated the 241 attendees of the Annual Meeting last week. The speakers provided inviting perspectives from which to take perch and see things in a new light.
Beginning with Extraordinist Craig Karges and his illusions, attendees were encouraged to look at things from a totally different perspective and open up to alternative possibilities. New energies and new ideas can come from the most unlikely of places.
Successful digital marketing was the next topic, tackled by Pat Cleary, senior vice president of Digital Public Affairs. He outlined the uptake of blogs, Facebook, Twitter, video and podcasting in Fortune 500 companies and encouraged applications to enhance current gear marketing endeavors.
Kim Korth, president of IRN, Inc., provided a “Reason for Optimism” when speaking about the future of the automobile industry. Using critical numbers from the economy – including housing trends – she outlined hypotheses for a stronger automobile industry in the future.
A board member of The European Committee of Associations of Manufacturers (EUROTRANS), Dr. Andrea Scanavini discussed the industry in Europe and provided an overview of mechanical engineering and power transmissions in the world economy.
Tools to prepare members for the economic recovery were highlighted by Dr. Nariman Behravesh, chief economist and executive vice president of HIS Global Insight.
AGMA is working to deliver not only the best of the industry educational opportunities, but also a broader base of tools for its members to move forward in the changing economic climate.
