I was very pleased to be able to attend the Gearbox CSI training, as I learned a lot, especially with regard to gear failures. The course is very useful not only for service people, engineering consultants, but also for engineers working in research and development. One can learn a lot from problems that happened in the field and use this experience and knowledge for future developments, preventing failures from occurring again.

The course covered a wide variety of applications in which gears, gearbox transmissions and bearings are being used. The best way to learn more about your own products is to look over the border and thus share information with people working in different areas. The huge amount of practical examples was very interesting to me. The course was very well organized, very professional, and had a nice location.

AGMA is an invaluable resource for a leading gear manufacturer, such as Bonfiglioli, to ensure our gears exceed industry standards. The available market research is also a great way to strategically target new industries and product launches.

We found immediate member benefit in having up-to-date gearing standards in an electronic format. We are now sure that all our engineers have the best tools to work with.

The Annual Meeting gives a fresh perspective on the business climate, which frankly helps with planning our gearing and even our non-gearing businesses.

Schafer Gear has benefited a great deal from the networking relationships we have developed with the gear industry’s movers and shakers. We have also benefited from the technical know-how the Association has to offer. We have been able to take advantage of the ability to share and exchange problems, ideas and knowledge through AGMA. We also feel that the benefits are further multiplied when we are able to be active participants in many of the association’s activities.

[Detailed Gear Design is] one of the best trainings I've attended. A year later, I still find myself referencing my notes from this class and finding help with non-gear problems, as well. Ray Drago definitely knows his stuff and teaches in a way that is entertaining, keeps your attention and leaves you prepared to walk out of class and improve gear designs. He takes the mystery out of gear optimization and provides plenty of real world examples to add practicality to the theory.

I walked into class with a pretty good familiarity with the gear rating equations, but left with a whole new understanding of all those rating factors I had been using. Great class.

I have been an AGMA member for more than 30 years. The value I have gained personally, as well as the overall value my company has enjoyed, has been significant. It has given me a tremendous opportunity to develop relationships that may not have occurred without this association. Leaders within the gear industry recognize and appreciate the impact AGMA has had in strengthening and building that industry over the years.

The Gear Materials seminar, taught by Ray Drago and Roy Cunningham, is absolutely one of the most informative and enjoyable courses I’ve ever attended. Both individuals possess a great wealth of knowledge and are extremely willing and able to present that information to anyone on any level of understanding. I highly recommend this course to anyone in the industrial field and gearing industry, whether they are an engineer, supervisor, manager or even a mechanic. Don’t miss out on this valuable information that you can easily apply in your everyday work!

Networking at AGMA events has provided me with the opportunity to make business contacts that have positively impacted my business. Knowing my customers and competitors has increased my knowledge and understanding of the gear industry, and through AGMA, I have met some interesting industry executives and experts.

In the design of gears, the ‘supporting cast’ (i.e. housing, lubrication, sealing, etc.) is easily overlooked; but, even the highest quality gear set will fail to perform as designed with a lubrication system and/or housing not suitable for the application. AGMA’s Gearbox System Design seminar, instructed by Raymond Drago and Steve Cymbala, is an excellent addition to gear education and training, because it focuses on the critical aspects of a gearbox other than gear design and bearing selection. It is a great course that really hits its mark - I would recommend this seminar to anyone directly involved in the designing of gears or gearboxes.
