AGMA at Eurotrans Annual Meeting

24th June 2010

The federation of European gear and power transmission equipment, known as EUROTRANS recently concluded their 2010 Annual Meeting

For AGMA, who has been included as a guest for well over three decades, the value is in networking with the leaders of the European industry and in the information exchange.

Each of the six countries presents a review of the past year’s economic situation and an outlook for the future. The presentations are available here.

It is no surprise that every country felt the effects of the financial crisis in 2008 and 2009. As you can see from the reports, Australia came through the two years in the best condition. Technically, Australia did not have a recession although they are currently seeing a slow-down in business.

All European countries are recovering, as in the USA. All are cautiously optimistic and the reports note the known risks to growth. Universally, manufacturing capacity utilization is very weak and well below historical norms.

The report from the VDMA in Germany included the graphics (see below) that detail the distribution of worldwide gear and gearbox producation as well as projections for wind turbine growth in the next decade.
