Using the Monthly Market Trend Report

Ian Stringer, Association of Manufacturing Technology Oxana Sidor, Sumitomo Drive Technologies

In almost every choice they make, executives need to consider some kind of forecast. Being able to make sound predictions of markets and trends is a necessity. AGMA has a tool for gear manufacturers called the Monthly Market Trend Report (MMTR) that will help you calculate your own market share in nine product categories.

The MMTR tracks actual booking and shipment data from domestic manufacturers of gears, gear boxes and flexible couplings. The summary report includes data that lists industry bookings, a bookings index and a shipment index for all groups, enclosed gears, and each of the product groups. Learn how to participate in this report and more importantly how to use the data to help with your monthly and annual forecasting.
