Position Summary/ Shift:
Perform duties required of the forge department in support of and to assist in production. This position will work second shift, hours are 4 p.m. to 2 a.m. (or 4 a.m. based on customer needs).
Essential Job Duties and Responsibilities
Actively participate in efforts to establish and promote a safe and healthy work environment. Follow policies, programs, and procedures for the reduction and elimination of industrial accidents, and provide quality feedback to promote safer work behaviors and conditions.
Locate material according to shop order information, verify material identity, visually examine material for defects, and transport material, scrap, and forgings throughout production area.
Grind material defects with hand grinder or overhead grinder.
Coordinate pre-forging load with Blacksmith or appropriate forge personnel.
Load, unload, and operate furnace to maintain production schedule for forging cycles and post-forge thermal cycles in accordance with forge manual.
Repair forge tools with welder or grinder.
Remove scrap from the press pits, unload scrap in the appropriate dumpster according to metal type. Record weights on appropriate paper work.
Fuel press support equipment, long reaches and fork trucks.
Perform general housekeeping work - clean furnaces and floors.
Fill in as forge crew member when required.
High school diploma/GED and completion
Basic manufacturing or shop math (measuring and converting metrics, decimals…)
Ability to read a tape measure and interpret blueprints.
Must be capable of performing a wide variety of tasks and willing to learn on the fly.
Must be capable of following verbal as well as written instructions.
Previous experience with heavy equipment operation.
Working Conditions/Physical Requirements:
· Use forging equipment, overhead crane, welding equipment, computer, scale, and various grinders.
· Will be exposed to extreme temperatures heat and cold (air temperatures that reach over 100 degrees F) and humid conditions.
· Operate job duties in conditions where there is dirt, dust, loud noises
· Operate job duties in small areas and areas where pinch points exists
· Ability to lift a minimum of 65 lbs.
· Climbing, overhead lifting, standing for long periods of time
· Must be authorized to work anywhere in the U.S. without sponsorship.
· Ability to pass a lift evaluation (up to 65 lbs.) pre-employment.
· Must be able to pass a 90 day head hair drug test today.
