Job Summary

Motor & Gear Engineering, a growing company, has an immediate need for a bevel, worm, Helical and spur gear cutting (hobbing) machinist that has experience setting up and running gear hobbing equipment along with required inspection equipment. Our engineer/technician will work with the right candidate to teach them our specific equipment if they know the principles of gear cutting. There are many opportunities for advancement within the company.

Basic Duties for the Gear cutting Machinist include:

Set-up and run various gear cutting equipment for either worm or parallel axis gears in preparation for heat treat.
Use inspection equipment at set-up and throughout the run to assure the gear teeth conform to customer specifications.
Sharpen gear hobs as required to produce proper tooth configurations.
Perform necessary inspections to ensure they comply with customer drawings and specifications.
Work with Engineering to suggest process and tooling changes improved efficiency.
Maintain a neat and clean work area.

Qualifications and skills required for the Gear cutting (hobbing) Machinist:

High School diploma or equivalency
The ideal candidate will have 3 years experience setting up and using various gear cutting equipment such as: Pfauter, TOS, Liebherr, thread mill, surface grinder, key seater, Hofler gear grinder, Pratt & Whitney shaper
Good mechanical ability and with good shop math skills.
Ability to read blueprints and follow customer and engineering requirements.
Ability to be punctual on a daily basis.
Ability to learn and take notes while training with one of our senior machinist.
Authorized to work in the United States
