Maintenance Mechanic

Title: OCG – Maintenance Mechanic – Addison, Chicago, and Lombard

 

Job Status: Non-Exempt/Regular/Full-Time

 

Reports Relationship: Reporting to the Department Supervisor

Education:  High School education or equivalent, previous maintenance experience CNC Repairing/Rebuilding, Industrial Furnace Repairs, Rebuilds or Installation

Work Experience: At least 5 years of experience of electrical/mechanical troubleshooting and repair

Job Summary: Detect and report faulty material, environmental hazards, and/or improper operation of plant equipment or machinery; refer questionable and unusual matters to proper supervision. Maintain work area and equipment in a clear and orderly fashion. Follow all safety regulations and practices.  

Personal Characteristics: Requires verbal and written communication skills with the ability to pay attention to detail. Must be able to multi-task in a fast paced environment, while exhibiting strong organizational skills. Must be able to read and follow blueprints, drawings and schematics.

Principal Area of  Responsibility: As Maintenance Mechanic, this position is to:

                                           - Provides emergency/unscheduled repairs of production equipment during production and performs                                                         schedules maintenance repairs of production equipment during machine service

                                           -Prepares and sets up machinery for scheduled production runs

                                           -Performs mechanic skills including, but not limited to, mechanical, electrical, pneumatic and hydraulic                                                      troubleshooting and repair packaging and production machines

                                           -Reads and interprets equipment manuals and work orders to perform required maintenance and service

                                           -Comply with OSHA safety and health rules

                                           -Perform other duties and work assignments as required and directed

 

Specific Duties:            

Position must possess the following skills, qualifications and capabilities:

 

  • Read and understand complex electrical and electronic schematics
  • Read and interpret basic mechanical blueprints, sketches and diagrams including welding symbols
  • Apply basic mathematics to solve electrical, electronic, hydraulic and pneumatic problems and formulas
  • Use micrometers, calipers, scales, gages and other measuring instruments efficiently and accurately
  • Understands basic building electrical systems, lighting systems and service wiring to related equipment
  • Use and interpret various types of electrical and/or electronic diagnostic equipment
  • Understands electronics as related to machine computers controls and is able to troubleshoot and repair down to board or component level
  • Performs related paperwork as instructed by supervisory personnel
  • Maintains clean work area
  • Report any equipment or facility defect(s) to supervisor
  • All other duties and activities as assigned or necessary to support Operation

  • handle multiple projects (multi-task) in a fast-paced organization with shifting deadlines
  • resourceful, “hands-on”, “roll-up-sleeves” approach to work while maintaining professionalism, positive demeanor and quality-focused manner
