Position: Manager of Business Development – Motor Control Products
Department: Sales Administration
Reports To: Vice President of Sales
Location: Waunakee, WI
Hours: 1st shift
The Manager of Business Development - Motor Control Products will team with NORD Sales in growing sales of inverters and associated products by utilizing their experience in applying high performance AC vector drives in automated systems to convert high volume Inverter Target Accounts. This person will work closely with the Engineering Manager - Motor Control Products to maintain a high level of NORD product knowledge.
· Lead all strategic sales activities related to Control Products. Grow Control Product sales through the conversion of qualified Target Accounts (those with $75K/Year potential that we can proactively pursue).
o Understanding the Control Products development pipeline, including the US new product launch schedule from the Engineering Manager - Control Products.
o Develop and implement a sales strategy for Control Products.
o Develop mechanism for tracking the conversion process using CRM and determining when targets have been converted or are no longer valid.
o Give pre-sale selection and application assistance for variable frequency inverters and inverter/vector duty motors.
o Assist the Engineering Manager – Control Products in the creation of sales tools, marketing documentation, product launches, OEM planning, and internal/external training activities.
o Provide Engineering Manager – Control Products feedback on product development needs that he or she can present to German product development.
o Qualify target accounts presented by sales team.
o Assign the Engineering Manager – Control Products and his team target accounts as required consistent with his availability.
o Participate and help coordinate sales calls to targets with control application engineers.
o Work with local and global Industry Management and Key Account Management teams to gain user specification.
o Develop customer and Nord sales representative relationships.
o Coordinate with mechanical engineering team as required on mechatronic solutions
o Provide quotations.
o Conduct application verification.
· Education: BSEE, BSET, or BSME or equivalent experience
· Experience: 5+ years’ experience in the Application and Sales of High Performance AC Inverter Drives/motor controllers
o Knowledgeable in related power and automation system components such as motors, reducers, PLCs, HMIs, I/O components
o Has a successful track record of converting high volume OEM accounts
o Familiar with standard industrial sales channels and customer classes
· Skills & Key Attributes:
o Ability to quickly establish credibility at all levels of target customer’s organizations by having a comprehensive technical understanding of NORD’s control products and how to apply them. This includes C-Level executives and Control Products Engineering Managers.
o Ability to handle multiple tasks and changing priorities; Strong analytic and problem solving skills; Strong organization & time management skills; Excellent written and oral communication skills in dealing both with Managers and Engineers; Good listener; Customer focused; Computer literate; Effective worker under light supervision
· Physical Requirements: Ability to work out of Waunakee, WI facility; Ability to travel up to 75%; Communicate by phone to the general public; Work at a computer up to several hours at a time; Ability to review work in shop (assembly & manufacturing) for technical consultation; Ability to work in engineering shop area testing products
