Process Engineer

Title: OCG – Process Engineer-Addison


Job Status:  Exempt/Regular/Full-Time


Reports Relationship: Reporting to the Senior Process Engineer

Education: BS/BA degree in Operations Management, Engineering, or equivalent experience working in management

Work Experience: Should have a minimum of 2 years of relevant experience in Manufacturing with Set-up Operator experience. Must have a strong business background and be computer literate in Engineering Design Programs, Microsoft Outlook, Work, Excel, and PowerPoint.

Job Summary: Issues various instructions to the shop on how to manufacture parts to customer specifications. Work with Engineering, Manufacturing, Suppliers, Customer and Quality to continuously improve safety, quality and productivity. Enhance existing composite materials to offer cost reductions or new materials to improve field performance.

Personal Characteristics: Requires interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills with the ability to handle confidential information. Strong technical knowledge and ability in process engineering disciplines. Demonstrates ability to manage multiple and difficult projects and assignments with high level of autonomy and accountability for results. Results oriented with the ability to balance other business considerations. Person must have very strong organizational and computer skills (Microsoft Office Suite) along with the ability to follow-up

Principal Area of Responsibility: As Process Engineer, this position is to:

                                           -Gear manufacturing process development and definition, and input to Bill of Process (BOP)/Bill of                                                           Engineering (BOE)

                                           -Human factors consideration

                                           -Efficient material flow

                                           -Design, construction, integration, plant installation, successful launch and continuous improvement of                                                     equipment and tools required in plants for the production of high quality gears

                                           -Providing technical direction to and oversight of outside vendor sources for gears, gear blanks and related                                             components

                                           -work may involve development and testing of advances process technology


Specific Duties: Position must possess the following skills, qualifications and capabilities:


  • Prepares process sheets detaining methods and operations to use in order to manufacture customer specified products
  • Draws machining sketches as aids to accompany process sheets
  • Reviews and investigates manufacturing change requests. Makes changes to methods and processes as required
  • Investigate and assist manufacturing personnel in resolving manufacturing problems
  • Requisition raw materials for the manufacture of parts
  • Request design changes from customers to simplify manufacturing processes
  • Investigate and assist in the resolving of quality problems
  • Foster a team spirited environment
  • Independently solve problems and display conflict resolution skills
  • All other duties and activities as assigned or necessary to support the Operation

  • The ability to handle high stress associated with high activity with tight deadlines.
  • Handle multiple projects (multi-task) in a fast-paced organization with shifting priorities.
  • Resourceful, “hand-on”, “roll-up sleeves” approach to work while maintaining professionalism, positive demeanor and quality-focused manner.
  • Excellent time management skills.  Readily accessible, punctual and resourceful with the ability to work beyond the normal business hours, including weekends.
