Sales Engineer

Riley Gear Corporation is looking for a Sales Engineer to add to its staff in the St. Augustine, Florida location.  Reporting to the Director of Sales & Marketing, the Sales Engineer will perform a role that solves complex gear production challenges, and consults with a variety of customers in industries such as defense, aerospace, oil & gas production, automotive, and food processing. 


Key Responsibilities

Interpret gear prints including dimensions, geometric dimensioning and tolerance, and specifications
Oversee generation of gear drawings within Solidworks 2D & 3D format. Delivers all documents needed to completely define gears and related parts
Specify gear testing programs and lead prototype builds and complete test reports
Investigate and resolve issues associated with non-conforming gear sets from testing or customer returns
Work closely with manufacturing and manufacturing engineering to establish gear manufacturing excellence
May require travel both locally and internally
Assist customers with the development of gear designs including assemblies, bills of material, parts list and detail drawings as required in conformance with order requirements and engineering standards and procedures.
Support customer service, sales, field service and manufacturing as required.
Analyze order content and customer specifications to ensure product and customer satisfaction.
Familiarize and stay current with AGMA and other industry standards.
Ensure manufacturability and cost effectiveness of designs.
Complete tasks in a dependable and thorough manner within required time frame.


Required Education and Experience

B. S. Mechanical Engineering from accredited college.
Excellent computer skills (proficient in Microsoft Office software)

Strong written and verbal communication skills are required
Must be self-motivated
Excellent gear manufacturing process experience involving various materials and heat treatment processes
Working understanding of gear related heat treat processes (carburizing, induction, nitriding, thru hardening, etc.) including metallurgical evaluation
Must be a “US Person” able to work on ITAR/EAR related projects
Working understanding of gear inspection techniques and chart interpretation
Minimum 5 years of gear design experience including 3 or more years of manufacturing experience in gear machining and/or assembly AND 3 or more years' experience with gear design software such as KISSsoft or UTS
Working knowledge of 3D CAD (Solidworks preferred)
Capable of organizing, constructing, and conducting testing plans in order to evaluate and qualify products
