Title: OCG – Tool Engineer - Addison
Job Status: Exempt/Regular/Full-Time
Reports Relationship: Reporting to the Senior Process Engineer
Education: Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or related Engineering discipline
Work Experience: Should have a minimum of 3 years of relevant experience in Manufacturing within the Heavy Equipment Industry. Must have a strong business background and be computer literate in Engineering Design Programs, Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
Job Summary: The Tool Engineer will demonstrate leadership in communicating business goals, programs, and processes for an area or business segment. In this role you will utilize your experience or expertise to solve problems, develop and execute objectives for self and others, and have the ability to effect short-term and some long-term business goals.
Personal Characteristics: Requires superior interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills with a strong sense of urgency, with the ability to handle confidential information. Strong technical knowledge and ability to process engineering disciplines. Results oriented with the ability to balance other business considerations. Person must have very strong organizational and computer skills (Microsoft Office Suite) along with the ability to follow-up.
Principal Area of Responsibility: As Total Engineer, this position is to:
- Provide technical leadership to personnel supporting the assigned project
-Document technical data generated by the assigned project consistent with engineering policies and procedures
-Provide timely communications on significant issues or developments
-Participate on teams assigned to address organizational initiatives and generic issues
-Participate as a presenter or reviewer in technical data generated for the assigned projects and/or tasks consistent with engineering policies and procedures
-execute the design, analysis, or evaluation of drive train components for heavy equipment, and other assigned projects using sound engineering principles and adhering to business standards, practices, procedures, and product/program requirements
-Utilize commercially available software to evaluate gear design life (Load Distribution Program or equivalent)
Specific Duties: Position must possess the following skills, qualifications and capabilities:
- Read and interpret blueprints, tolerances and dimensions
- Details proper tooth grinding cam specifications and cutting tool specifications
- Understanding the concepts and applications of turning, milling, drilling, tapping, grinding, hobbing, shaping shaving, gear grinding and heat treat
- Ability to make tool sketches
- Provides accurate design, detail and processing, including rates of all necessary tooling prior to manufacturing requirements
- Capable in performing gage and fixture dispositions
- Checks repeat orders for proper inventory levels, specifications and ability of cutting tools and other special tooling
- Investigate and assist in resolving quality, tooling and manufacturing problems
- Draws machining sketches as aids to accompany process sheets
- Reviews and investigates manufacturing change requests. Makes changes to methods and processes as required

- Investigate and assist manufacturing personnel in resolving manufacturing problems
- Requisition raw materials for the manufacture of parts
- Request design changes from customers to simplify manufacturing problems
- Investigate and assist in the resolving of quality problems
