Tool Room Machinist

Title: OCG – Tool Room Machinist - Addison

 

Job Status: Non-Exempt/Regular/Full-Time

 

Reports Relationship: Reporting to the Department Supervisor

Education: Associate’s degree in industrial/Electrical/Mechanical field, technical diploma or related field, or equivalent vocational/technical training and experience 

Work Experience: At least one year of experience of electrical/mechanical troubleshooting and repair

Job Summary: The Tool Room Machinist will be responsible for ordering, storing, issuing, and maintaining all tools and holders for the machine shop. Tool Room Machinist will use various measurements to inspect for defects and wear, utilize grinders, hand tools, and other items to accomplish their task. Additional tasks include performing cycle counting of inventory items and performing inventory transactions in AutoCrib. Tool Room Machinist must communicate effectively with shop personnel to ensure timely service to machines and prevent machine down time. Tool Room Machinist will use drawings, programs, and/or verbal instructions as well as exercising judgement/experience to plan and accomplish goals  

Personal Characteristics: Requires verbal and written communication skills with the ability to pay attention to detail. Must be able to multi-task in a fast-paced environment, while exhibiting strong organizational skills. Must be able to read and follow blueprints, drawings and schematics.

Principal Area of  Responsibility: As Tool Room Machinist, this position is to:

                                           - Completes projects and tasks with minimal supervision/assistance

                                           -Ability to perform in a dynamic fast-paced environment

                                           -Ability to communicate professionally internally and externally, both verbally and written

                                           -Proactive in identifying and recommending proper tool application for various materials and machining                                                    processes

                                           -Logistics of tools reconditioned tools and carbide recycling programs

                                           -Input data into visual management forms and convey results into management

                                           -Can work on various surfaces and in work areas that require standing, stooping, bending, and working in                                                an assortment of positions

                                           -frequently lifts and carries tools, parts, supplies, and equipment that weigh up to 25lbs. May occasionally                                                handle items that weigh up to 50lbs

                                           -Responsible for observing and complying with all safety rules, including wearing required personal safety                                                equipment

                                           -Able to make adjustments or minor repairs to tools and equipment

                                           -Perform other related duties as assigned.

 

 

Specific Duties:  Position must possess the following skills, qualifications and capabilities:

 

  • Comply with company standards and applicable repair procedures and regulations
  • Responsible for ordering, receiving, storing, issuing, and maintaining tools and holders in an electronic format (AutoCrib and Excel)
  • Preset tools using computer controlled pre-setter and other manual gauges
  • Verify kits to programs and pre-kit jobs based on sequence of dispatch or machinist lead
  • Quality Inspection of tools and fixtures upon issuance and receipt of such items
  • Detail oriented, and a self-starter who can work with minimum supervision. Continuously improve processes, procedures, and eliminate waste
  • Maintain clean work area
  • Report any equipment or facility defect(s) to supervisor
  • All other duties and activities as assigned or necessary to support the Operation
