Turning Machinist

Title: OCG – Turning Machinist Addison

 

Job Status: Non-Exempt/Regular/Full-Time

 

Reports Relationship: Reporting to the Department Supervisor

Education:  High School Graduate or General Education Degree (GED) 

Work Experience: Two to three years related experience/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience

Job Summary: Primary responsibilities are reviewing blueprint, process sheets, specifications and instructions for assigned projects. It is the responsibility of the operator to preform preventative maintenance on all equipment as required. Communicating effectively with the supervisors and co-workers regarding changes to the blueprints and other aspects of the assignment is crucial. Responsible for accurate measurement and recognizing when equipment needs to be replaced. Frequent quality check and documentation of results for consistency of production. Responsible for cleanliness and order in own work environment. Must be able to read reports and make adjustments to the machines. Verifies conformance such as micrometer, calipers, gages, and gear checking equipment.  

Personal Characteristics: Results oriented with the ability to pay strong attention to detail. The successful candidate needs to be a pro-active self-started that can work independently. Excellent analytical and organizational skills are a required skill for this position.

Principal Area of  Responsibility: As Turning Machinist, this position is to:

                                           - set-up assigned production equipment without supervisor’s instructions                       

                                           -Loads and unloads own machine, assists and instructs others per supervisor’s request

                                           -Operate, adjust and upload equipment as necessary

                                           -Follow all safety requirements at all times

                                           -Maintain equipment and cleanliness of working area

                                           -Preform quality checks daily and assist with duties as needed

  • handle multiple projects (multi-task) in a fast-paced organization with shifting priorities
  • resourceful, “hands-on”, “roll-up-sleeves” approach to work while maintaining professionalism, positive demeanor and quality-focused manner
