AGMA FOUNDATION AWARDS TEN SCHOLARSHIPS TO FUTURE INDUSTRY ENGINEERS
$169,000 Awarded to 23 Students Since 2010.
Alexandria, VA—Ten students with a focus of a career in the gear industry received AGMA Foundation Scholarship awards for the 2017-2018 academic year. Each fall, the Foundation awards $5,000 scholarships at the Undergraduate/Graduate levels, and $2,000 scholarships at the Associate/Technical school levels. Eighty-six percent of scholarship recipients are employed in the gear industry!
The 2017 AGMA Foundation Scholarship Recipients are:

Isaac Bowser—Taylor University (Indiana)
Nolan Maners—Western Kentucky University
Aggash Sivasoth—University of Waterloo (Ontario, Canada)
Joshua Smith—Colorado State University
Michael Ustes—University of Michigan, Dearborn
Jacob Vanderveen—Grand Valley State (Michigan)
Tiffany Lim—The Ohio State University
Yue Peng—University of North Carolina at Charlotte
Mustafa Turhan—University of Waterloo (Ontario, Canada)
“The Scholarship Program is one way in which the AGMA Foundation fulfills its mission to support education, training and research for the gear industry,” said Cindy Bennett, AGMA Foundation executive director. “The Scholarship Program is very successful with 86% of scholarship recipients currently working in the gear industry.”
The AGMA Foundation Scholarship Committee received a record 27 applications for the 2017 awards. The AGMA Foundation Board of Trustees reviewed the applications and awarded scholarships to the top ten applicants.
“The scholarships are funded through voluntary donations from AGMA member companies and individuals,” continues Bennett, “This program is a wonderful example of our association members giving back to their community and helping the next generation come forward to build a strong, vibrant future for our industry.”
Companies and research institutions employing AGMA Foundation scholarship recipients include: Brelie Gear, Caterpillar, Colorado State Engine & Energy Conversion Lab, DNV KEMA Renewables, Ontario Drive & Gear, Tawas Tool, Toyota, The Ohio State University, and the University of North Carolina.
