The AGMA Foundation 2017 Scholarship Guidelines are available on the AGMA and AGMA Foundation websites (www.agma.org and www.agmafoundation.org).
The AGMA Foundation Scholarship Program is open to students who are interested in a career in the gear industry, and/or a career in power transmission as it relates to the gear industry. Applicants must be currently enrolled, or recently accepted, as a full or part-time student in a nationally accredited program. Annual $5,000 scholarships are awarded to students at the Undergraduate, and Graduate school levels, Technical/Associate degree students are eligible for $2,000 annual scholarship awards. The deadline for application submission is July 1, 2017.
The AGMA Foundation received a record number of 21 applications in 2016, resulting in 10 awards. The list of 2016 AGMA Foundation Scholarship Recipients is available on the AGMA Foundation website.
“We are hoping to break the scholarship application record again this year” stated Cindy Bennett, AGMA Foundation Executive Director. “2016 was the first year that Technical/Associate school students were eligible for scholarships, and we were happy to award a scholarship at this level. We hope to see more applicants across all levels this year.”
“Our industry is looking for qualified individuals at all levels. The Foundation tracks its scholarship recipients, and finds that 86% are employed in the gear industry. This tells us that students who receive scholarships from AGMA are statistically more likely to stay in our industry,” stated Matt Croson, AGMA President.
The Foundation has awarded $125,000 in scholarships since the inception of the program in 2009. AGMA members fund the Scholarship Program through their generous donations to the Foundation’s Annual Campaign.
The American Gear Manufacturers Association is a voluntary association of companies, consultants, and academicians with a direct interest in the design, manufacture, and application of gears, couplings, and related power transmission components and equipment. Complete information on the organization is available at www.agma.org.
