AGMA Presents Lifetime Achievement Award

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

May 7, 2018, Alexandria, VA—The American Gear Manufacturers Association (AGMA) presented Sam Haines, CFO and Chairman of Gear Motions, with the AGMA Lifetime Achievement award during his retirement ceremony in Syracuse, NY. This award is presented to someone who has demonstrated dedication and leadership for the advancement of the gear industry and AGMA, exemplified superior vision and exceptional knowledge that has been shared with colleagues and achieved admiration and respect of peers. 

"Sam's influence and leadership will not soon be forgotten," Dean Burrows, President of Gear Motions wrote in the award nomination. "His business expertise and charismatic personality have made him a natural leader and allowed him to inspire others to work together and achieve greatness."

Haines began his career in gears after graduating from Babson College in Wellesley, MA and started at Nixon Gear. In 1985, Haines was named President of Gear Motions and expanded the company through his leadership while winning numerous awards for performance and excellence. Most notably, in 2005, Haines established an Employee Stock Ownership Plan which created at 10-year financial plan for transferring ownership of the company to his employees. This ensured his employees that Gear Motions would be around for years to come. 

"Sam has been an instrumental part of growing the gear industry and ensuring that its future is promising," said Matt Croson, President of AGMA. "His dedication on AGMA's Board of Directors and the AGMA Foundation Board led to the first education grants, creating some of the most popular and widely-used education courses today. We are grateful for all that Sam has done for AGMA and the industry."

Haines served as chair of the ADEC (predecessor to BMEC), served on the Board of Directors from 1998-2000 and was Chairman of the Board from 1998-1999. He was a member of the AGMA Foundation Board from 1999-2006 and served as Chairman from 2004 – 2006.
