AGMA Teams Up With ASM International on Education Initiatives

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Alexandria, VA- AGMA has partnered with ASM International to expand the courses that are offered to professionals in the gear manufacturing and material science industries. AGMA offers classes that teach everything from the Basics of Gearing to more advanced courses like Gear Failure Analysis. ASM offers classes from Basics of Heat Treating to Aluminum and Its Alloys. AGMA has focused their education program to meet the demands of member companies that need expert education for their employees and ASM International’s curriculum adds another resource for that.

“We are looking forward to working with ASM in this capacity and find this type of partnership is the best way to give members access to experts across all industries,” Casandra Blassingame, AGMA’s director of education explained. “We look forward to the day when we have more courses together as we see how technology in manufacturing is changing and how we can help each other provide tools to grow our programs and our member’s skill sets.”

AGMA has been co-locating their tradeshow, Gear Expo, with ASM International’s show, Heat Treating Society Conference & Exposition, since 2009. Additionally, AGMA has had a joint course with ASM at Gear Expo starting in 2011, Materials Selection and Heat Treatment of Gears. All classes will be cross-marketed as a convenient way for students to obtain information in both industries to better enhance member’s workforce and knowledge base.

“ASM International is very excited to announce the formation of a new training collaboration with AGMA to provide targeted, materials-related training programs in the industrial markets we serve,” added John Cerne, ASM International's senior manager of edcuation. “We see a growing need for improved materials performance and professional development training programs across the gear manufacturing and material science sectors.  By leveraging our combined capabilities, ASM and AGMA will provide crucial workforce development to support professional growth.”
