AGMA To Host First International Course in Mumbai, India

Alexandria, VA – AGMA has partnered with Ovako, Virgo Communications and the IPTEX/GRINDEX Show in Mumbai, India to host its first international course: Steels for Gear Applications. The one-day class will take place during the tradeshow at the Bombay Exhibition Centre, and attendees will have the option of attending on February 22nd or 23rd.  AGMA will offer this course as the first of many that will take place outside of the United States as part of their global initiative in the AGMA strategic plan.

The Steels for Gear Applications course will examine the use of steel properties in a system solution and understand potential that different steel and heat treatment options can offer various applications. With the growing gear and materials market in India, this class will offer Indian companies increased access to subject matter experts and their knowledge. Ovako‘s Executive Vice President, Head of Group Marketing and Technology, Goran Nystrom will be the instructor for the course.

“Taking a class to India is a great way to show our international members that AGMA is committed to delivering value everywhere,” said Jill Johnson, AGMA’s Director of Membership. “With IPTEX being such a reputable and growing show, we knew that this opportunity was the right choice and many of our Indian members are thrilled to see AGMA investing resources to be there.”

The IPTEX/GRINDEX trade show has been connecting manufacturers and suppliers in the Indian gear industry for 10 years. With exhibitors bringing in products that appeal with all types of stakeholders in the gear industry—from aerospace to power transmission—this show is able to connect the entire value chain. Many AGMA members attend IPTEX and bringing the educational opportunity to India will allow easier access for international members already attending the show that might not be able to make it to the United States for a course.

“AGMA’s international memberships are growing each year,” explained Matthew E. Croson, President of AGMA. “It is time that we bring the educational value that we have to offer directly to them and grow our relationships on a global level. IPTEX is an impressive show with high-quality attendance and a great place to host our first international course. “

Registration will be handled by Virgo Communications and Exhibitions. Those interested in attending the course can contact or If there are any further questions, please contact Jill Johnson at
