June 13, 2018 – Alexandria, VA – AGMA’s Vice President of Marketing, Jenny Blackford, earned the designation of Certified Exhibition Management (CEM) from the International Association of Exhibitions and Events (IAEE) on May 22. Blackford completed nine courses in person and online through the program taught by practicing industry professionals.
According to IAEE, the CEM designation is a globally recognized certification that “demonstrates the highest professional standard through the exhibition and event management arena.” Blackford is one of only 2,700 people around the world to obtain this designation. CEM classes covered topics such as: finance, budgeting and contracts; floor plan development; conference and meeting management; strategic planning and management and exhibition and event sales.
“Over the past two years, the CEM program has allowed me to learn the latest best practices in the exhibition industry, and to learn from other exhibition managers throughout the world,” Blackford said. “As AGMA’s show continues to grow, this program gives me new tools and resources to help make our show the best it can be for our exhibitors and attendees.”
Currently, 27 percent of trade associations will hire someone with a CEM designation to run a tradeshow more efficiently. This certification will allow Blackford to take the latest industry and tradeshow knowledge to help shape the new direction of the 2019 AGMA show.
“This type of certification ensures AGMA members are getting the latest information and the best tools on how to deliver value through an association at a tradeshow level,” explained Matthew Croson, President of AGMA. “The CEM designation is not handed out to just anyone—it takes time, effort and testing to obtain this certification and it is a true testament to Jenny’s commitment to her craft and to AGMA members.”
Blackford will use the CEM designation to help grow and materialize the 2019 AGMA show. The concept for this show was shared with members at the Annual Meeting in Naples, Florida this past April. More information regarding the show and further details will be shared in the upcoming months.
