Integrated Machinery Solutions is a heavy industrial equipment manufacturer located in Azle, TX.ย ย We specialize in the design and manufacture of material handling equipment, primarily in the overhead crane market.ย ย IMS is currently looking for a full-time Mechanical Design Engineer with 3 to 8 years engineering experience inย helical gearย and machine design.

Job Title: Gear Design Engineer

Key Responsibilities:

  • Apply knowledge of engineering principles to design products such as helical/spur gearing, gearbox assemblies, hoists, end trucks, and other mechanical assemblies that are used in the hoisting industry.
  • Support Quality Control and Manufacturing personnel to ensure geared products are manufactured and inspected according to both company and industrial standards.
  • Have a basic application knowledge of electric motors and motor drives is required.ย 
  • Complete work according to standard engineering principles and practices
  • Design structural and mechanical components as required for equipment and machinery
  • Prepare structural and mechanical engineering calculations using computerized and longhand methods.ย 
  • Use SolidWorks and AutoCAD for 3D and 2D structural and mechanical drawing.
  • Create general arrangement layouts, assembly drawings, detailed shop drawings, bills of materials, and part drawings.
  • Work with the basic features of Adobe Acrobat, Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook.ย 
  • Must be organized and able to prioritize and manage multiple tasks.
  • Ability to work with minimum supervision.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering from an ABET accredited program.
  • 3-8 years of applicable engineering experience, with a focus on gear and machine design.
  • Strong understanding of AGMA standards, how to apply them, and appropriate uses of them.
  • Proficiency in SolidWorks and AutoCAD for 3D and 2D structural and mechanical drawings.
  • Strong understanding of mechanical principles and materials science.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to work both independently, with minimum supervision, and as part of a team.
  • Must be organized and can prioritize and manage multiple tasks.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Professional Engineer (PE) license.
  • Experience with finite element analysis (FEA) software.
  • Knowledge of crane related industry standards and regulations (e.g., CMAA, AWS, ASME).
