AGMA Foundation Receives Machinery Donation for Use in AGMA Training Courses

April 20, 2022, Alexandria, VA โ€” The American Gear Manufacturers Association (AGMA) recently installed four machines at the AGMA National Training Center at Richard J. Daley College in Chicago, Illinois. The four machines were donated to the AGMA Foundation and will be used to support the hands-on classes offered by AGMA. Special thanks to donors Meritor, Inc., Piselli Enterprises, Inc., Randy R. Stevens, and Delta Holdings Livonia, LLC. Special thanks also to Mike McKernin, Board member, BMEC Chair, and Education Committee member, for his support in facilitating the preparation and delivery of the machines to the AGMA National Training Center. 

โ€œI am so grateful to our donors!โ€ stated Mary Ellen Doran, AGMA Foundation Executive Director. โ€œThis is a full-circle moment for the AGMA Foundation. We were privileged to have the means to fully fund the development of the Operator Level courses for AGMA, and now we have been able to secure machines that will provide a full experience for AGMAโ€™s students.โ€  

The following machines were donated by Meritor, Inc., with thanks to Ron DelVillano, Mike Lobaugh, Ed Guerra and Jack Masseth:

  • Fellows 7a Shaper
  • Gleason No. 6 Angular Gear Tester
  • Mitsubishi GC20CNC Hob

These machines will be used for the Operator Level courses, including Operator Hobbing and Shaper Cutting and Basic Gear Inspection for Operators.

The following machine was donated by Piselli Enterprises, Inc., Randy R. Stevens, and Delta Holdings Livonia, LLC:

  • Gleason M&M Sigma 3

The Gleason M&M Sigma 3 will also be used for Operator Level courses. Additionally, it will be used to support the Basic Training for Gear Manufacturing course.

โ€œThe Basic Training for Gear Manufacturing course has been a staple in AGMAโ€™s education program for almost 30 years,โ€ said Rosemarie Bundoc, Manager, Education, AGMA. โ€œThanks to these generous machine donations, we will be able to continue training industry professionals for years to come. We are very fortunate to have such supportive members willing to invest in the AGMA National Training Center.โ€
